Meet Dior Homme's Artistic Director ...

Kris Assche's Company Bio ...

Balancing a nostalgic historical sense with radical modernism, Kris Van Assche has created a distinctive, refined world of nonchalant elegance.

Van Assche's work is characterized by attention to detail, a strong feel for ritual and the exacting depiction of a chic that evokes "days gone by". His designs arise from a sophisticated approach that breaks away from the uniformization of sportswear.

Kris Van Assche was born in Belgium in 1976. Shortly after graduating from the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, he moved to Paris in 1998. After working with Hedi Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent and then for Dior Homme, he began to show his original creations in January 2005.

Today he heads his own label, KRIS VAN ASSCHE, and artistic director for Dior Homme since april 2007.

Impelled by a vision of the man who takes the time to "dress up", Kris Van Assche has embarked on an esthetic quest, pursuing a new masculinity infused with poetry and authenticity.

Chrisitian Peau footwear

Christian Peau is a Japanese fashion house whose design is understood to bridge the gap between modern avant-garde and classical artisan-based fashion. Unlike many cutting edge Japanese designers that have emerged from the last 10 years, Peau's is much more European in nature. His influences lie in the traditional artisans from the early 1800s who were understood to be masters in their trade. Drawn from traditional shoe making and leather master craftsmen,Christian Peau has reinvented the avant-garde in a modern and beautiful manner.

The emphasis is on handmade leather garments- each shoe is made by hand in Japan with an assortment of hand-stained, painted and washed leathers that are compounded and nailed together for a truly unique outcome.

Manolo Speaks ...

Remember this shoe?

Of course you do, I'm sure you're going "OMG that's the beautiful 2-die-4 blue satin Manolo from Sex and the City," right? And you'd be the MVP of fashionistas, lol (Just kidding). Regardless, I'm gagging anyway because the entire world of fashion thought this was the most "amazing" pump to date and Mr. Blue Satin Pump himself begged to differ.

Check out his response to the legendary pump during an interview in Footwear News (FN) entitled Head Over Heels by Katie Abel and Wayne Niemi ... highly recommended.

FN: Were you surprised about the attention your blue satin pump got in the “Sex and the City” film?

MB: I’ve been doing that shoe for a million years. The only thing that changed was the buckle. It is a pretty shoe, but it isn’t particularly exciting. [I’m amazed] that you have lines of people, even in Europe, asking for this shoe.

Finish reading here.

YOU ARE ... Suspended.

Told by Fashionista.com, Hachette is "suspending" publication of ELLE Accessories for at least a year. First, CosmoGirl, then Radar, now this ... who's next on the cutting board? Besides Shuz magazine (ceased), ELLE Accessories must have been one of the most anticipating mags to give me the level of inspiration I needed for wardrobe, stories and layouts from season to season.

What to read, right? Well, there's still hope, make sure you befriend FN (Footwear News) and Lucky magazine, these two will give any heel fiend an elevated fix ... Keep it C.O.C.A mamis!
