Lagerfeld Pays Tribute to CoCo Chanel ...

As told by WWD: A glamorous, big-budget short film of the silent variety will premiere in Paris this week, and it’s all due to Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld, who donned a director’s hat and let rip his encyclopedic knowledge of Gabrielle Chanel’s early years.

The 10-minute movie — in all its flapper glory, as these stills illustrate — will be screened at Le Ranelagh theater on Wednesday night, along with a showing of Chanel’s Paris-Moscow, a luxury pre-fall ready-to-wear collection embellished by the couture ateliers Chanel owns.

Lagerfeld tells WWD:
“Today, people are ready for silent movies again, as they spend time — hours, I would say — looking at text messages and e-mails,” says Lagerfeld. “I always loved silent movies.”

CHANEL FOR MEN???

With a complete understanding that The House of Chanel would NEVER design a line for menswear, I was totally comfortable with the idea of a major lux women's label staying single ... until now. WTF? First Tom Ford bows out to Gucci and now this, sigh. I'd say the only reason I'm on board with this entire idea would live up to two strong arguments: (1) Karl Lagerfeld and (2) Scott Schuman, who happens to be a fantastic photographer, I guess it wouldn't be a total bust, lol.

Please continue your read ...

As creator of one of the most viewed fashblogs, The Sartorialist, also selected as one of Time Magazine's Top 100 Design Influencers, Scott Schuman has been chosen by Fantastic Man magazine to photograph Chanel’s latest Menswear collection. After doing some careful research on Mr. Schuman, I've come to find that he's well known for taking exquisite shots of “real people” with a stylish approach while doing everyday things and the images that are to appear in FM’s issue No. 8 ... are right up his alley!

Check the preview of Chanel's menswear collection promo images ... I can't believe it!

"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous" Coco Chanel

What will you be watching next Saturday?

If you have any fashion sense your TV agenda will be programmed to Coco Chanel - Sept 13 at 8pm ET/PT on Lifetime ...

Just as Meryl Streep morphed into the epitome of the "dragon lady" editor of an alleged fashion bible - Shirley MacLaine was born to play this role and I'm sure if Mademoiselle Coco Chanel were alive she would concur, most fashionably!

Coco Chanel

Shirley MacLaine as Coco Chanel

This Lifetime story of the rags-to-riches tale of Coco Chanel eloquently identifies what it takes to get to the top no matter your gender, financial status nor knowledge of style. Finally, one of the original 'go getters' of the fashion industry is being honored - only if it were silver screen status instead of a network special, but if you research CHANEL you'll find its always been very intimate, exclusive and what I heart most of all ... FOR WOMEN ONLY!

Afterall ... it's CHANEL!
