Presenting ... Sokhna N'Dour

Sokhna N’Dour
Age: 16
Hometown: Dakar, Senegal
Bloodline: Father is Senegalese pop singer Youssou N’Dour (who was described by Rolling Stone in 2004 as “perhaps the most famous singer alive” in Africa).
Education: Dakar French High School, where she’s studying economics.
Wearing: Franck Sorbier

Escort:
Papou Ndiaye, friend of her older brother, Biran.
Role model: N’Dour flew to Sorbier’s Paris showroom with her father and brother in tow to select her dress. While there, she realized that her aunt had been a model for the designer years earlier.

As reported by WWD.com: Call it the Super Bowl of debutante balls. The Bal Crillon des Debutantes — held annually at Paris’ stately Hôtel de Crillon — brings together the daughters of heavy hitters from the worlds of politics, entertainment, art and fashion.

If you're a fan of MTV's The Hills, this is the same ball that Whitney and Lauren assisted in Paris. With careful research, I've found that every other year (or two) there's a brown baby selected and this particular year it's Sokhna N’Dour, daughter of famous pop singer Youssou N'Dour (click link to listen to his music).

Each year a number of lucky heiress' are handpicked to be presented unto the world as women ... very well-off young women, lol. Decked out in couture by Valentino, J. Mendel, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Franck Sorbier, to name a few. Did I forget to mention, the 'Royal Family' perks they recieve?

She's reminds me of the beautiful African dolls in the Christmas catalogs. A lucky heiress indeed.

I remember seeing this ball on the VH1 fashion show back in the day. That year they had a blk girl but they didn't say much about her.

I had never heard of this thing until today. Sounds a tad bit ridiculous to me. But I'm happy they at least had one black face to represent.
