International Swagger: Naketano
Naketano is a contemporary fashion project-turned-brand launched in the fall of 2004. After discovering the clothing line on Myspace it immediately put me on the wave of an American Apparel concept until I learned of their European roots … style of simplicity and rich fluidity of colour!
The word Naketano is a composition of the ancient Germanic term “Naket,” meaning nakedness in the sense of undisguised or personal appearance. The part “tano” stems from an ancient Romanic word meaning to denote a value, commonly used in the form of a question such as “how much is it worth?” Overall, Naketano can be defined as the worth of ones personal appearance.
According to the designers of Naketano: Nicole Christensen, Sandra Elspab and Cheryl Barcelona, the design team interacts with external creative heads such as graphic artists, pattern-makers, photographers and creative/responsible manufacturers who are all chosen very carefully to pull inspiration from during season to season.
Definitely a fresh clothing line, especially when you don't have to worry about the "double mint twin" look ... not a good look! Check em out, and cop a few pieces, it's always a plus to diversify your wardrobe.
