Born in Nigeria, Toyin has spent most of her life in the USA, namely in the states of California and Alabama. She is currently studying studio art with a minor in web design and expects to graduate with a BA in the Spring of 2008. She enjoys drawing, particularly with pens and inks, and as of late, enjoys working in the print-making fields, primarily with copper etching, in coherence with her drawings on wood works.
ABOUT WORK
Conceptually, Toyin enjoys exploring an array of themes dealing with a multitude of issues, such as: androgyny, perceptions and/or presentations of power dynamics (econimic, sexual, spiritual, etc.), multiple (and conflicting) states of being and the collective subconscious, the post-colonial "condition" or "dilemma," lineages in perceived Western "Royalties", the juxtapositioning of contradictory elements in nature, and Dandyism. She illustrates her views of such themes mainly in portraiture form spanning a myriad of series which she isn't entirely sure where or when each may end.

Yes! Toyin's art hits. It hits "hard." I enjoy seeing C.O.C.A Style showcase talented artists. After all, there's a parallel between art and fashion. I hope to see more in the future. Thanks C.O.C.A!
Sincerely,
