Someone you should know ...

About the designer: Prabal Gurung

[During a recent post from Fashionologie]

He filled in as Chief Designer at Bill Blass for the Spring 2008 season before Peter Som took over, and was set to produce the Fall 2009 Blass collection after Som left until things with the label fell apart.

Now, former Blass Design Director Prabal Gurung is striking out on his own with a signature label for Fall 2009, his first show kicking off Fashion Week Feb. 12. And judging by the pre-show coverage — WWD, Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair and Fashion Week Daily — he'll do just fine, even in a recession.

Find out where/how your favorite designer(s) pulls inspiration ...

STYLE.COM/TV interviewed 5 of Fashion Week's prominent designers: Thakoon Panichgul, Alexander Wang, Gabriel Asfour of Threeasfour, Angela Donhauser and Adi Gil with inquiring questions of where or what gave them inspiration for their fall collections. Continue to watch, it's very helpful, especially if these names, collections or faces are unfamiliar to you.

All the girls standin' in the line ...

Clearly it's not *for the bathroom,* lol, it's fashion's most slept on, Rachel Roy's Fall/Winter '09 Collection. This entire line-up concept is so sickenin' ... the first words beatin' in my head - Everyone Nose by N.E.R.D, a dead giveaway!

The fall collection says chic on many levels from the monotones of black, grey and winter white, Lady Rachel has yet again evolved her skills and is constantly keepin' these girls on their toes ... KILLER DUDE!

G-STAR RAW SPRING 2009 COLLECTION

Entering the scene in 1989, G-Star Raw, the Dutch denim line has always followed its "Just the product" philosophy and market approach. As told by G-Star, the line is an innovation and perfection of the products which are imperative; a style of all times - futuristic and cautious.

Notice how much star power G-Star Raw's fashion show received at its Spring 2009 show during Fashion Week. Everyone from Dame Dash to Zoe Saldana came out despite the rainy weather to see a few good pieces from one of their favorite international designers.

LACOSTE SPRING '09 COLLECTION

Lacoste definitely came to play for the Spring with classic American boy/girlish garments struting down the tents at Bryant Park. Sticking to its original roots 'on the green,' Lacoste designers kept it simple, but with a bold flair of checkers, stripes and blocked colored polos, dresses and pants ... it's time to tee off!

Besides the monochromatic theme, I thought the nylon jackets and the Masters Golf Tournament-inspired blazers were pretty C.O.C.A - I'm sure it'll be a matter of time before the fashion plates eat it up.

I think the spring line is pretty C.O.C.A, do you? Click HERE for more looks.
